Shirley Mae Nullmeyer 90, of East Peoria, IL passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at her home (Saxony Court Senior Living), following a fall resulting in a subdural hematoma.
Services will be at The Encounter Church, 800 Springfield Rd, East Peoria, IL 61611 on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a 1-hour visitation before the service, Pastor Tracey Pfeiffer officiating. There will be a celebration of life following the service at the church.
Shirley was born on May 22, 1933, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Harold and Lenore (Keim)
Nullmeyer.
She graduated from Peoria Central High School and married Dean Roberts in 1955. They had 2 daughters. She was a caring and strong person and raised her 2 daughters on her own.
She worked for Dooley Bros for 45 years, retiring at the age of 80.
Shirley was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria. Later she was baptized at Northwoods Community church in 2019 at the age of 86. She was very charitable and supported many non-profit organizations.
Shirley enjoyed bowling, going to dinner theater with friends, being outdoors and gardening and loved all types of animals, especially her Yorkie Teddy. She loved to crochet and made small, crocheted animals for the children’s hospital in Cedar Rapids. Shirley also enjoyed doing puzzles with her daughter, Pam. Shirley was very proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Roberts (Frederick) Dawson of Pekin; grandchildren, Brandy Dawson (Dany) Sarraf of Peoria, Ian (Angela) Dawson of Pekin, Sarah (Jared) Godbey, Aaron Harken, Jacob Harken and son-in-law, Raymond Harken all of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Barbara Veatch of Peoria; 8 great grandchildren, Madysen, Alexandria, Ethan, Maia, Cole, Oakley, Eastyn and Lincoln; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenore, and Harold Nullmeyer; her beloved daughter, Lori Harken; brother-in-law, Lester Veatch and nephew, Kevin Veatch.
Special thanks to all the wonderful nurses and staff at Saxony Court Senior Living. They treated her like family and took great care of her. I will be forever grateful.
