Sherri Annette Ames, 60, of Ipava, IL passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 4, 1963, in Normal, IL
Sherri married Kenneth Ames in June 2005 in Peoria, IL; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Amber Hauptly, Brian Hauptly, Jessica Hauptly; stepchildren Elizabeth (AJ) Widman, Robert “Bobby” (Laura) Ames; grandchildren Kavon, Kamiyah, Michael Jr, James, Keyarra, Alannah; step-grandchildren Sarah, Miguel, Andrea, Avalyn, Vivian, Rayvn, Camden, Annabelle; great grandchild Kingston; mother Judy Marion; stepmother Cathy Williams Swiercz; siblings, Kim Williams, Mary (Loren) Todd, William “Bill” (Malisa) Schmidgall, Robert “Bobby” Schmidgall; step-siblings Wes (Myong) Ames, Teresa (Joe) Parisi, David Ames, Robin Coglianese, Joe Ames, Sara Ames, Sam (April) Ames, Ruth (Tommy) Larimore, Jason Ames; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl “JR” Williams Jr; stepfather Richard “Rick” Marion; father-in-law Robert L Ames.
Sherri graduated from Washington Community High School
She worked as a cashier for Wal-Mart for many years and as “Fudgelady” in her own shop in Pekin and Denham Springs, Louisiana, retiring in 2019.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, taking spontaneous trips, visiting lighthouses and the beach. She loved nature, especially watching hummingbirds and waterfalls.
Sherri loved communicating and visiting with her family and friends. She made many friends through social media. Some of her best times were spent in her Fudgelady shop in Denham Springs, and researching and connecting with people about new crochet patterns and stitches.
Sherri loved listening to music, as she would often do while crocheting. Her favorite band was Journey, and she loved 80’s rock and country.
Sherri wished to be cremated, with no visitation. A Remembrance Ceremony will be held later.
