Obituary for Sharon Rakestraw
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, Sharon Rakestraw (Coates), loving wife to Tom Rakestraw and amazing mother to Sandy (Jerry) Myers, Cyndi (Pete) Light, Justin (Amelia) Rakestraw, and Christopher (Candice) Rakestraw went to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by her father, DeWitt; her mother, Bernadine, and her brothers, Ronnie and Gary Coates.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; brother, Ed (Mary) Coates; 4 children; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and so many more that considered her family.
A woman of powerful faith and conviction, Sharon found peace and comfort in nature and in her gardens where she spent countless hours talking with the Lord while admiring His creation. She loved her family with great passion, enjoyed spending time with her sheep and goats, and always had a place at her table for old and new friends - especially the little ones whom she adored and who adored her in return. She was known for her abundant generosity, wise advice, beautiful singing voice, an incredible smile, infectious laugh, and was always ready with a full hug. She will be dearly and greatly missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations may be sent in her memory to the Love In Action Food Pantry located in Chillicothe, Illinois.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
