Obituary for Sharon Lorene Arnold

Sharon Lorene Arnold of Glasford, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday afternoon June 24, 2024. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.


Sharon was born on February 4, 1941 to John and Lorene Hammond Coates.


On July 24, 1960, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Lee Arnold who survives.


Also surviving are their two children, Lisa McCoy and Eric (Jennifer) Arnold, their bonus daughter Debra (Mark) Suhs, their five grandchildren, Savannah (Michael) Cheatham, Christian (Ewelina) McCoy, Owen Arnold, Anna Arnold, Beau Arnold and Peyton Ice, their two great-grandchildren Caden Cheatham and Lilah McCoy, and her one sister Betty Hutton.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, John Coates, Donald Coates and Roger Coates, and three of her sisters, Hazel Norad, Barbara Heitzman and Mary Nickelson.


Sharon graduated from Timber Township High School in 1959, and 30 years later celebrated her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse by graduating from Spoon River College and Graham Hospital School of Nursing.


She worked as a nurse for 17 years before retiring in 2006 from the Tazewell County Health Department.


Memorials can be made to the Glasford Baptist Church of which Sharon was a member all her life.


Cremation rites are being accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Glasford Baptist Church on Saturday July 20, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am. Lunch will be provided afterwards in the Fellowship Hall.


The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
