Obituary for Sarah Jane (Sally) Riley
Sarah Jane (Sally) Riley, 79, of Peoria, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on November 30, 1942, in Washington, IL, to John and Pauline Appenheimer Schmidt. She married Kenyon Dodge Riley in Peoria on April 18, 1969.
Surviving are her sisters, Carol (the late, James) Rick of Hales Corners, WI, Mary (Joseph) Lauderback of Grand Island, FL, Sandra (Jay) Schertz of Lowpoint, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Alice (Robert) Thieme, Margaret (Fred) Julien, and Helen Short.
Sally graduated from Washington Community High School. She enjoyed her many years as a legal secretary, ending her career as an office manager. She loved gardening when she was able. Sally had a beautiful smile and a knack for making everyone feel welcome.
Cremation has been accorded, and there will be no visitation. A celebration of Sally’s life will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in her name.
