Obituary for Sally Sommer Haase
Sally Sommer Haase age 57 of Peoria Heights passed away Saturday morning August 4, 2012. She was born May 7, 1955 in Shreveport, LA. The daughter of Thomas P. and Nancy Hager Sommer. She was preceded in death by her father and brother. She married David Haase August 29, 1981. Surviving are her husband and mother. Sally was a graduate of Richwoods High School and Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin. During her Sophomore year there she participated in World Campus Afloat and did an around the world tour. She learned from that experience how lucky she was to live in the United States. Sally was employed by Widmer Interiors for 33 years, started out selling office supplies and advanced to becoming a designer of beautiful offices. She received The Eliza Pindell Community Service award in 2009. Sally was a member PEO Chapter GS. She was also active in Junior League, Lakeview Museum, The Cancer Center for Healthy Living, Family House, The Peoria Historical Society, Komen for the Cure, Father Sweeney School, Youth Farm, Kid Konnected, and Big Brothers and Sisters. Sally and her husband have hosted many charity events for the community at their home. For the past 30 years the Haase’s participated in Halloween celebrations and loved seeing the children old and young come to their home. Sally wants all her friends to know that she loved them and how she treasured their friendship and all they have done to make the past months easier for her and her family. In addition she thanks OSF Hospice for the loving care they provided for her and her family. The family gives thanks to a special friend Carol Dullum for the caring nursing help she gave Sally 24/7 the last days of her life. Cremation rites have been accorded by the Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at the First Federated Church 3601 N. Sheridan Rd. Peoria, IL on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to OSF Hospice or The Ark Pet Shelter in Lacon, IL.
