Obituary for Ryan J. Lancaster
Ryan J. Lancaster 88, of Pekin passed away on Thursday June 19, 2008 at Pekin Hospital. Born in Pekin on February 7, 1920 to Lawrence and Gladys Ryan Lancaster. He married Domenica M. Bertetto in Ardmore, OK on October 31, 1943; she survives along with their two sons; R.J. (Frances) Lancaster of Phoenix, AZ and Larry Lancaster of Pekin. His brother preceded him in death. Ryan served in the Air Force during WWII based in England and flew a B-17 for 35 missions and was a self- employed contractor and owned Lancaster Builders for 50 years, retiring in 1999. He was a pilot and an avid Cub’s fan and Golfer. He also was part of the Senior Golf League and won several city and county tournaments. Ryan was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, the K of C Archbishop Council 3507 and Assembly 210 where he served as past Grand Knight from 1961 to 1962 and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where he served as an Usher for many years. A funeral mass will be held at his church on Monday June 23, at 10 a.m. Father Pat Fixsen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
