Obituary for Ruth Trapnell
Ruth Trapnell, 100, died at Bickford Cottages in Peoria, Illinois on April 19, 2011 after a long and rewarding life. Ruth was born on August 17, 1910 and grew up in Oklahoma  City as the daughter of  Augusta and Evan Jones.  There she met Louis D. Trapnell, the love of her life. They were married in 1931 and moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where Louis was employed by Continental Oil Company for 42 years. He predeceased her in 1988. Ruth had three children, all of whom prospered and are well. Her son David Trapnell lives in Arizona.  He was followed by Don Trapnell, who lives in Houston, and her daughter, Louise (David) Mueller of Peoria. Her family grew with six grandchildren:  Roger Trapnell, Andrew Trapnell, Jeffrey Trapnell, Michael Trapnell, David Bond Mueller, Jr. and Cynthia (Mueller) McLean, as well as 13 great grandchildren. Ruth loved her family of all generations and they loved her. Ruth and her husband Louis were proud of their Sooner heritage and roots. Ponca City was Ruth’s home from the time of her marriage until 1999 when she moved to Peoria to be closer to her daughter.  In Ponca City she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she worked on numerous church related activities and guilds. She was also a 40 year member of the Ponca City Country Club where she, Louis and their children were dedicated and competitive golfers. In addition Ruth was an avid gardener who took particular delight in her flower beds. She was also an artist who painted in both watercolors and oils. For years her paintings decorated the walls of her Oklahoma home and now are enjoyed by her children and grandchildren. In addition to golf Ruth enjoyed playing Bridge and Mahjong. She continued to play after moving to Peoria, up until her sight failed. While in this community she was a member of First Federated Church and participated in church related activities, including its Mothers Club. Ruth’s family joined her for a celebration of her 95
