Obituary for Ruth McClellan
Ruth Helen McClellan, 88, of Pekin, went home to be with her beloved husband, after almost 2 decades apart, on July 25, 2019 at Aperion Care Morton Villa.
Born in Pekin on March 4, 1931 to John and "L" Janssen, she was one of 6 children welcomed into this world by her loving parents. She married Jake E. McClellan on June 1, 1958 in Pekin.
Ruth is proceeded in death by both of her parents, having lost her mother when she was 16 and becoming a "mother" to her siblings in her mother’s untimely absence. A sister (Elizabeth), who passed as a child. And four brothers who meant the world to her (John, Herman, Lowell and Paul.
Those left to cherish the memories of her are two daughters, Brenda (Larry) Culp of Delavan. Shirley Bauman of Pekin. Five grandchildren, Erica Badgerow of Delavan, Sarajane (John) Hawkins of Green Valley, Michael (Jenny) Culp of Le Claire, Iowa, Richard Bauman of Creve Coeur and Luther Bauman of Pekin and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of Second Reformed church in Pekin. A church that she cherished from her childhood. She was a housewife who looked back fondly on her days spent living in Spring Lake with her husband, whom was a park ranger at Spring Lake Park. She enjoyed picnicking at the park with her family and loved to take the grandkids to pick apricots every year at the orchard there.
Ruth was a simple woman of faith and looked forward to her day she would be reunited with her loved ones passed, especially her dear husband whom she spoke of every day until her passing.
Her family will be holding a private graveside service and a Remembrance of Life.
