Obituary for Ron Lewis
Ronald K. Lewis, 70, of Osage Beach, MO, (former native of Pekin) passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 8:31 pm in Columbia, MO, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 17, 1941 in Pekin, IL to Edwin G. and Ruth (Jackson) Lewis. He married Ann (Wallis) on November 30, 1973 in Pekin, where they made their home together until moving to Osage Beach, MO in 1996. He is survived by his adoring wife Ann and their five children, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and was looking forward to his third great-grandchild due this September. His Children are: Chuck (Lisa) Lewis, Michelle (Lance) Rhoades, Chris (Karen) Lewis, Scott (Jennifer) Lewis and Mandy Majors.  The grandchildren he loved so much are Cory, Kelsey, Wade, Lauren, Tyler, Dylan, Amanda, Lanny, Ashleigh, Kaitlyn, Madelyn and Baylie. Great-grandchildren are Savanna and Averie. Also surviving are two brothers: Ed (Molly) Lewis of Green Valley, and Rodney (Rozell) Lewis of Morton, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Lewis. Ronnie was born and raised in Pekin, the son of the town’s well known home delivery milkman. He graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1959 and later served in the US Army Reserves. He went to work at Caterpillar Inc. in 1965 as a skilled tradesman, retiring in 1995 after 30 years. In 1977, he also became a real estate agent, which was his true passion. He continued to work until the time of his death, last working on Saturday, May 26, 2012. He loved living and working at Lake of the Ozarks, where many of his clients became good friends. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him know that Ron took great pride in every single thing he did and was a man of unwavering principle and integrity, uncanny sense of humor and an ornery streak a mile wide. His greatest loves in life were his wife, children, grandchildren and his four-legged children. He will be missed for the one in a million husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that he was. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. Farewell Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Cremation rites will be accorded and the family will host a memorial service at a later date in Missouri.
