Obituary for Robert Cone
Robert Spencer Cone, 84, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Peoria. He was born on September 19, 1929 to Edward and Maize Cone. He married Nancy Clayton Sharpe in March, 1989. His wife Nancy, and his sister, Marilee Brunnen Meyer (Myer) preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughter Joyce Ann Smalling (Rick), his step daughters Toni Root (Carl), Kelly Voelker, Cindy Birkhold (George), his nephew, Eric Brunnenmeyer (Rae Lynn), great nephew and niece Nick and Mackise, grandchildren Nikki Romagnino (Kory), Michelle Smalling, William Sharpe (Lori), Jimmy Voelker (Nikki), Nicky Voelker, Teddy Voelker, Mary Voelker, Lily Voelker, Danny Voelker, George Birkhold, Sarah Birkhold, and Mary Grace Birkhold, great grandchildren Kaleb Romagnino, Lucy and William Sharpe, Jocelyn and Adrian Voelker. Bob drove an Ace ambulance for many years and also was a Peoria County Sheriff’s deputy before retiring in 1985. He then was a Peoria Public School bus driver until 1998. Bob was also the quarterback for his Peoria High School’s football team. Bob loved to tell stories about his adventures throughout his lifetime. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.) by going on their web site. Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.
