Obituary for Ricky Lee Zimmerman
Ricky Lee Zimmerman, 76, of Peoria, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. He was born September 12th, 1947 in Peoria, IL to John and Eva (Keayes) Zimmerman. He married Deborah (Davis) Ernst on February 17, 2009. She survives.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Mark, and his step-father Robert Crum.
Rick is survived by his children: Bonnie, Thomas, and Vicky Zimmerman; his step-daughter, Angela (Zach) Malmgren; his granddaughter, Allison Post; step-grandchildren, Alex and Samantha Malmgren; his sister, Nancy Vanderploeg; and his nieces, Vanessa and Elizabeth.
Rick enlisted in the US Army at the age of 19 and was a member of VFW post 2602. He retired from Local 112 Ironworkers at the age of 62. Rick was a car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows, working on classic cars, and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois in Pekin. There will be a graveside service at Farmdale cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Richard Owens Hospice Home for the care that was given to Ricky in his final days.
