Obituary for Richard "Monk" Holmes
Richard “Monk” R. Holmes, 77, of Manito passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Timbercreek in Pekin. He was born November 5, 1940 in Ashland, IL to Eugene and Gladys Mathy Holmes. He married Frances Loftis; she preceded him in death in 2007. His parents; son, Rich Holmes Jr.; daughter, Debbi Cary and sister, Sherry Zimmerman also preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Christine (Michael) Brown, Nancy Skillestad; grandchildren, Sean, Jonny, Ryan, Justin, Jeremy, Devin, Tucker, James, Nick, MacKenzie; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and sister, Marcia Schaub. Richard served in the U.S. National Guard and worked for Caterpillar. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Minnesota and was a member of TCEMA. He loved Westerns, collecting Western DVD’s and walking around Walmart talking with people. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Farm House in Delavan.
