Obituary for Richard "Dick" L. Hardy
Richard “Dick” L. Hardy 89, of Pekin passed away on Sunday January 25, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. Born to Ira A. and Nonie E. Bibb Hardy on October 25, 1919 in Hannibal MO. He and his wife of 64 years Helen Stockus married in Roodhouse on June 11, 1944. She survives along with his sons Robert (Jo Ann) Hardy of Fort Worth, TX, Terry Hardy of Pekin and Frank (Eva) Hardy of Marquette Heights. Also surviving are his 7 grand and 8 great grandchildren. His brother preceded him in death. Dick served in the Army during WWII and worked as a Machinist at Caterpillar for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0373 in Roodhouse for 53 years and a Trustee of Local 974 for 13 years. Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Abts Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
