Rebecca Calleen (Hale) Jirjis, 56 of Spring Bay, IL died at 6:38 p.m. on Thursday (July 10, 2008) at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born December 20, 1951 in Peoria, daughter of Hollis E. Hale and Eleanora C. (Whitby) Hale, Howard. She married Mark Jirjis on December 18, 2003 in Peoria. Survivors include her husband, Mark of Spring Bay, IL; four sons, Matt (Laura) Smith and Douglas (Ashley) Smith of Peoria, Robert (Michelle) Smith, and Ronald (Melissa) Smith of Lehigh Acres, FL, one step-daughter, Jeannia Jirjis of Spring Bay, IL, and one step-son, Jabob Jirjis of Osage Beach, MO: ten grandchildren, Brooke, Elizabeth, Brian, Brett, Ashland, and Rebecca (Her Namesake) Smith of Peoria, and Vanessa, Austin, Megan, and Jarrett Smith of Lehigh Acres, FL: four sisters, Christine (Joe) Brewer, Diane (Wayne) Slater, and Mary (Mark) Coulter of Canton, IL. and Cynthia Churchill of Lehigh Acres, FL, two brothers, Rodney (sandy) Howard and Johnny (Paeton Kilburn) Eppers, both of Canton, IL, and one step-brother, Ronald Howard of Pheonix, AZ,: Twelve nieces, eleven nephews, six great-neices, and eight great-nephews. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Robert Howard, infant brother; Delbert Howard, sister Roberta “Bobbi” Jarvis, two nephews: Todd Brewer and Zachary Lane, and her niece Karen Howard. She worked in Law Enforcement and Corrections for the State of Florida for many years and was in MGT at Dollar General in East Peoria, IL. She enjoyed Interior Decorating, Gardening, Crafts, Woodworking, being outdoors, and especially spending time with her family. Cremation has been accorded and a private family memorial service was held. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Cancer research and flowers can be sent to 514 Bay View Dr. East Peoria 61611.
