Obituary for Phyllis Claudin
Phyllis H. Claudin, 89, of Peoria, IL; formerly of Texas, passed at 11:30 a.m. on February 12, 2014 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Angels carried her home. She was born August 11, 1924 to “Jack” Schwab and Edna Holmes. She was married to Lowell Claudin, he preceded her in death February 19, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Sexton and his wife, Terri; grandchild, Patrick O’Brien; son-in-law, Walt Gerard Sr.; many wonderful friends and family she will be joined with in Heaven that went before her. Surviving are two daughters, Jackie Gerard of Colorado, Nancy Morrell of Illinois; sister, Mabel; three step-sons, Larry Claudin, Jim Claudin, Don Claudin; step-daughter, Debbie Pollard; seven grandchildren, Tim (Cheryl) O’Brien, Debra (Hank) Burgess-Tipton, Cindy Brown, Kieth Morrell Jr. all of Illinois, Walt (Rene) Gerard Jr., Danny (Tracey) Gerard, Mike Gerard all of Colorado; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Phyllis with her husband enjoyed traveling, boating, camping and crafts. They belonged to the East Peoria Boat Club before transitioning to Texas. Phyllis ran the Book Emporiam for most of her working career. She loved reading. She also, when attending Bradley University won a menu cooking contest. The biggest question our grandma and grandpa would ask…”How much money do you have saved?” They both would save a dollar from every ten dollars made. Second question was when shopping “Do you want that or do you need that?” Memorial Services are being held February 21st at 11 a.m. Family is asking for privacy as they say their last good byes to Phyllis. Service will be located at the chapel (A frame building) inside Swan Lake Cemetery. Any condolences can be sent to 509 E. Lawndale Ave., Peoria, IL 61603.
