Obituary for Phyllis Ann Sanson

Phyllis Ann Sanson, 85, of Edelstein passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria after a 42 year battle with cancer.


She was born on March 25, 1940, in Peoria to Dale Clifford and Jane Louise Buck Davis. Her parents; daughter, Teresa Filonowich and sister-in-law, Gayle Davis preceded her in death.


Phyllis married David P. Sanson in 1962 in Ottawa; he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Susan (Fred) Fox; son, Bud (Sara) Sanson; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and brother, Dale C. Davis.


She was a graduate of Stephens College in 1960 and Bradley University in 1962 with her Bachelor’s Degree.


After her husband’s retirement from AT&T they spent their lives doing mission work in over 20 countries. It was her hearts desire to see youth respond to the Gospel of Christ and was a strong supporter of Teen Missions and Child Evangelism Fellowship. She loved studying Bible Prophecy and paid close attention to the unfolding of world events, that would point to the return of her Loving Savior.


Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship www.cefonline.com in her name.
