Obituary for Peter F Yancick
Peter F. Yancick, 80, of Morton, IL died at 5:15am Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at home. Born July 30, 1935 in Farmington, IL. The son of Mike and Pauline (Almasi) Yancick, he married Nancy L. Smith on January 1, 1964 in Peoria, IL. His wife preceded him in death. Surviving are three children, Paul L. Yancick of Peoria, Angela M. (Yancick) Hub of Morton and Matthew B. Yancick of Pekin also two brothers, Jack Yancick of Tucson, AZ and Franklin L. Yancick of Peoria and five grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers and five sisters and his son, Peter M. Yancick. He served in the U.S. Army on the DMZ in Korea with the 1st Calvary Division and served 2 years with the 11th Corp, Co. C, 80th Artillery Bn. In the Army Reserves in Canton. He attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. Peter was a Senior System Analyst at Caterpillar in Peoria for 45 years and a member of the VFW and the 1st Cavalry Division Association and the American Legion. Peter was always known for the articles he had written in the opinion page of the Peoria Journal Star. Cremation has been accorded and per his wishes no services will be held. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army.
