Obituary for Perry Van Buskirk
Perry James Van Buskirk, 85, of Pekin passed away Saturday December 15, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born August 21, 1927 in Emden, IL to Hilbert and Ruth Creager Van Buskirk. He married Patricia Goodwin July 29, 1950 in Lincoln, IL. She preceded him in death June 27, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Laurette Van Buskirk Brown; brother, Gene Van Buskirk and one grandson. He is survived by his children, Robert J. (Mary) Van Buskirk of Peoria, Mike R. (Juanita) Van Buskirk of Pekin, Barbara A. (Charles) Darling of Pekin; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Cramer of Dow, IL and several nieces and nephews. Perry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Chowanoc. He worked at the Peoria Union Stockyards for 43 years before retiring September 17, 1992. He was an avid Cubs fan and he loved to garden and watch Hummingbirds. He also enjoyed political and religious discussions. Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be held Saturday December 22, 2012 at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his name.
