Obituary for Paul Plesko
Paul Plesko of Pekin, Illinois died in the evening of Sunday-May 31, 2015. Paul was born May 21, 1922 in Streator, Illinois to Michael and Anna Bakalar Plesko. He married Marie A. Evans December 2, 1943 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Marie died April 24, 1981 in Pekin, Illinois. Paul married Joan Bohne Verheyen on June 18, 1983 in Pekin. She survives Paul. Surviving family members include 3 sons-Michael of Liberty, MO; Timothy of Summit, NJ; Andrew of Milwaukee, WI; 2 daughters-Marguerite of Glen Ellyn, IL; Rachel Plesko-Larsen of Seattle, WA and 3 stepsons-Michael Verheyen of Peoria, IL; Andrew Verheyen of Dunlap, IL; Mark Verheyen of New Lenox, IL; and 7 stepdaughters-Cynthia Verheyen-Stephens, Nancy Verheyen-Emerick and Susan Verheyen-Williams of Quincy, IL; Diane Verheyen-Johnson and Mary Lu Verheyen-Gensel of Pekin, IL; Teresa Verheyen-Block of Toluca, IL; Amy Verheyen-Gardner of Germantown Hills, IL. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He served in Italy during World War II with the 454th Bomb Group and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1953, he was employed by Bankers Life and Casualty Co in Chicago; Joseph Froggatt & Co in Chicago; and the Farmers Automobile Insurance Association in Pekin. He retired from the latter company in 1988. Private family memorial services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at a later date. Cremation will be accorded and the burial of ashes will be in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
