Obituary for Paul "Kent" Davis
Paul “Kent” Davis, 80, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Pekin, passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, December 13, 2022, due to multiple complications.
He was born July 14, 1942 in Effingham, Illinois to Russell and Mabel (Percival) Davis, the youngest of four children. He married Theresa Norris of Effingham. They are both survived by their three loving children, Vicki (Craig) Aberbach, Brett Davis and Jami Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosalie Keller and Judy Wolff, brother James Davis and his ex-wife, Theresa, whom he remained close to up to her passing.
In the early years, Kent worked as a radio announcer for WSIV in Pekin. He had a beautiful, iconic voice and was called upon as master of ceremonies for hometown events as well as doing commercial voice overs for local advertisers. He went on to work for Halstead & Wolfe realty where he achieved top sales and was named to the Century 21 Million Dollar Club multiple years. Between real estate, farming in Southern Illinois and serving on the board of the Lung Association, as well as numerous other organizations, Kent enjoyed restoring European sports cars. He could often be seen tooling around town in an old MG, Triumph, Austin Healy or Porsche.
Affected by polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a genetic disease affecting multiple family members, he was the first in his family to receive a kidney transplant and his “new” kidney held out up to the very end, for nearly 33 years. We will always be forever grateful to the donor and the donor’s family for the selflessness they showed at such a challenging time in their lives.
The family would like to thank all the dedicated health care professionals who took such great care of Kent through the years and for all the caring, love and support given to him by family and friends alike. It indeed took a village at times.
Family and friends are welcome to join us for a memorial service to honor and celebrate his life on April 1, 2023, 1pm at Bethsaida Church, 17020 County Rd 200 N, Dieterich, IL. Reception to follow.
