Obituary for Norris M. Giedd
Norris Michael Giedd 89, of Washington passed away on October 1, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Danville. Norris lived with his niece Kristy (Willie) Fiedler in Washington. He is survived by his sister Gladys A. Harris of Washington, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and many grand nieces and nephews. He was baptized and attended the Day Adventist Church and enjoyed working around automobiles and machinery. He enjoyed his motorcycle into his eighties. He retired from Love Lace Trucking Co. and moved to Alabama with his wife, Christine. She preceded him in death in 2004. He had joined the Army at age 18 and explained that is was a great adventure for him to fly over 4 continents and fight in WWII in Italy. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal along with 4 Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorian Unit Award and the WWII Victory Medal. He spent many hours in his last days reading his Bible and praying for others. Cremation has been accorded and private services were held. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
