NoraLynn Lovell, 60, of Marquette Heights passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born August 18, 1962, in Russellville, Arkansas to James Harold and Sarah Jane (Bartlett) Parham. She married Daniel Craig Lovell on August 10, 1980, in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are Danny, her soul mate of 44 years; sisters, Margie (Rick) Layman of Marquette Heights and Tammy Robertson of Spring Bay; nieces, Jessica (Chris) Farris, Mariah (Chris) Cheatham, Sarah (Jason) Brazeal; nephews James (Michelle) Layman and Levi Robertson and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
People often go about their lives and work and never have a true sense of the lasting impact they have had on others. “Miss Nora,” co-owner of “Peek In Pottery” in Pekin, was one of these. She left her imprint on more than the greenware she cleaned or bisque she painted. It is on every life she touched. Nora never served customers; she cultivated friendships. These friends describe her as being kind, patient, encouraging, creative, funny, unique, big hearted and more. She had a gift for creating an environment where everyone was welcome and she believed there were no obstacles to artistic creativity. With Danny by her side, Nora set the stage for memorable parties, family gatherings and community events. Their outreach has extended throughout Central Illinois as they have brought art programs to all ages and abilities, through Schools, Daycare facilities, Senior facilities, Scouts, 4H, Group Homes, etc. Nora’s creativity was front and center when she customized unique fundraising items for school auctions and not-for-profit organizations. Many treasured family heirlooms will have Nora’s guiding hand behind them.
While Nora is and will continue to be greatly missed, we can take joy in her art and her legacy.
