Nelda Burke, 87, of Pekin, Illinois entered into eternity on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Born on January 7, 1937, to Coy and Della Paschall. She married the love of her life, Charles Burke, in 1955. They were married until his passing in 1989.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Arvella Singleton, son Robert “Bob” Burke and infant grandson Jeremy Burke.
She is survived by her son, Ed (Cathy) Burke; daughters Cheryl Meyer and Crystal (Gary) Colclasure; grandchildren Nicholas Burke, Ben Burke, Megan (Kyle) Braker, Justin (Rachel) Meyer, Brittany (Allen Dunn) Meyer and Jessie (Eric) Summer; 4 great grandsons, and 3 great granddaughters. She was also survived by her brother, James (Rose) Paschal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janette and Ray Ing and many nephews and nieces.
She and Charles owned Burke’s UI Mart in South Pekin in the early 1970’s. She worked at Pekin Kmart for 15+ years, retiring in 1996.
Nelda had a deep faith in the Lord. She attended Pekin First Church of God and was involved in many ministries over the years including the Red Cross Blood Drives where she was known for her delicious vegetable beef soup, Wednesday Night Dinners/Kitchen Ministry, Funeral Dinners, Small Group Bible Study, Chocolate Chip Cookie Ministry (for visitors to the Church) and the Dartball League
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 2pm at Pekin First Church of God, 2520 Maywood Ave, Pekin, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin First Church of God Food Pantry.
