Obituary for Nancy McIntire
Our mom Nancy was born on a farm in Southern Illinois on July 7th 1938. Her father Leo was a farmer, her mother Mary Violet was a farmer’s wife. Mom lost her father at age seven from a tragic event. Now alone the two of them forged a close loving bond. Mom was afraid to be away from her mothers side. With little means they had to make every meal for themselves and became known as quite good cooks. Years later her mother married Jim and they had a son Clinton. Hoping to make a better life, the four of them moved to Peoria where jobs were available. Her mother did find work – cooking at of all places a golf course. In fact they lived above the clubhouse at Newman Golf course. There was a man and quite a good golfer that worked at Newman. His name is Jack McIntire. They fell in love with each other and married one week after he won the City Golf Tournament. Mom and Dad had four children, Mike, Kenny, Wendy, and Mark. Early in their marriage Mom lost her mother in a very tragic accident. After losing both parents in a horrible way, Mom became fiercely protective of her family. The love between Mom and Dad was the core of our family life. Mom had a close relationship with the nieces and nephews in our family and all knew she loved them. During Holidays if Mom heard that someone didn’t have a place to go, she insisted they come and celebrate with us. In her later years, when walking became a challenge, she somehow found the strength to dance with her family at reunions.
Dad, thank you for taking such good care of our mother for 61years. You truly were a great husband and father. You made sure she was never cold, hungry, or lonely and always loved. And if she wanted something sweet, you made sure she got it.
It gives us comfort to think our Mom has joined her parents and all other loved ones that passed before her. Our family will be taken from this earth one by one, but we will all be reunited again someday and it will be glorious.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, July 5th 2018 from 1pm to 4:30 at the Eagles Club located at 1704 South East Lane Peoria, IL. 61605.
