Nancy Ellen (Overturf) Schwindenhammer, 80, of Bartonville, IL passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
She was born November 8, 1943, in Greenwood, MO to Richard and Neva Overturf. Her parents and son, Lonnie (1-19-2017) preceded her in death.
She married Gerald “Judd” Schwindenhammer on October 21, 1961, in Bartonville, IL; he survives. She is also survived by her son, Gary (Shannon); daughter-in-law, Jackie all of Bartonville, IL; two grandsons, Seth and Conrad; two granddaughters, Sara and Morgan; one great-granddaughter, Josephine; two brothers, Glen (Betsy) of Bossier City, LA, Rob of Toluca, IL and sister, Doris (Jim) McClintock of Peoria, IL.
Nancy was employed as a bookkeeper for several area businesses until owning and operating Nancy’s Wedding World, retiring in 1993 to join Judd in retirement. In 2006 Nancy started a home embroidery business “The Magic Needle”, a hobby turned business she truly enjoyed.
She and Judd enjoyed many years of travel and cruising in their antique cars. Nancy managed to visit 48 of the 52 states along with many islands.
She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 979 and held several offices including president, she was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 3883.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
