Obituary for Michael David Simmons
Michael David Simmons, 69 of Mackinaw, Illinois passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 12:54 AM at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born April 04, 1955, at OSF in Peoria, Illinois to Charles Edward and Kathleen Rose Hurley Simmons. His parents and sister, Vicki Simmons Hochstein preceded him in death. Surviving siblings: Charles (Karen) Simmons, Steven (Barbara) Simmons.
He married Debra Pauline Frisby on May 6, 1989, in Peoria, IL; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Trisha Todd, Heidi Campana, Trista Simmons, Elizabeth Van (Viet) Nguyen; grandchildren, Isaac Todd, Taelynn Todd, Alyson Campana, Ava Campana, Aidan Campana, Hannah Brown, Anna Brown, Tiffany Town, Joshua Nguyen; great grandchildren, Theo, Isabelle, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Michael graduated from Manual High School. He played football, basketball and was an avid sports fan. He went on to become a Printer/Pressman for 40 years; starting in a garage for Colemon Printing, and finishing that career of 30 years at Methodist Medical Center of Peoria, IL. Michael was a worshiper and his love for the Lord and serving was an intricate part of his life.
Michael was a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a crucial part of establishing a coffeehouse ministry, ministering in prisons, co-laboring in building and serving in the body of Christ. Michael was a worshiper and his love for the Lord and serving was an intricate part of his life.
Michael married the love of his life, his 5th grade sweetheart, going on to be married 35 years. Michael’s love for his family was always evident as he joined in coaching their softball, and cheering them on in volleyball. He enjoyed football, golf, and softball.
Cremation has been accorded and a visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with a service at 12 noon at Days of Grace Fellowship, 273 E. Queenwood Rd., Morton, IL 61550. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Days of Grace Fellowship, 273 E. Queenwood Rd., Morton, IL 61550 in his name.
