Obituary for Melva Lee Satterlee
Melva Lee “Mutt” Satterlee, 63 of East Peoria passed away on Monday December 14, 2009 at Riverview in East Peoria. Born in Peoria on September 30, 1946 to Merchel and Eva Blackburn Clark. She married Walter W. Satterlee in Washington on May 9, 1970. He survives along with her children: Jackie Frost of Washington, Joey Satterlee of East Peoria, Jaimie (James) McFarlin of Eureka, Tiffini (James Curless) Satterlee of Pekin, Dusty (Beth) Satterlee of North Pekin, brother Noble (Penny) Clark of Las Vegas, NV, sisters: Jean McColloch and Mary (Francis) Potter both of Washington and grandsons: Derek (Angie) Rosenthal, Brett Frost, Trenton Satterlee, Don McFarlin and Jameson Curless. Her parents, a infant child, grandson Shea Satterlee and her brother Warren Clark preceded her in death. Melva was a Homemaker and a Waitress and worked at Steak N Shake, Matador and Big John’s, was a member of the Church of Christ, was a Adult Literary Teacher and a Scout Leader. She was an avid fan of Mystery books and movies and she enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. Her family will miss her wicked sense of humor, her pot roast and chocolate pies. She was a great Mom who always had everyone’s best interests at heart. She was a beloved grandmother, who had a firm belief that her grandsons would be better off encased in bubble wrap. Mostly Melva was a wonderful wife and partner to her husband of 40 years. She will be sorely missed by all. Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made by walking into any library and donating money, books or movies in Melva’s name. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
