Obituary for Melba Romack
Melba Jean Romack, 66, of Mapleton passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born July 16, 1952 in Peoria to Claude and Hazel Huey Downing. She married James M. Romack; he preceded her in death January 31, 2011. Her parents; brother, Buddy Joe Downing and sister, Kathryn Smith also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Shannon) Turner, James J. (Stephanie Rutledge) Romack; grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Alycia, Acacia, Jenna, Olivia, Kayla, Natalie; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Defreitas, Brenda (Gary) Adams, Janice (Roger) Willmon, Thomas Downing, Randall Downing, Barbara Juneman, Gary Downing and many nieces and nephews. Melba was a dedicated and hard worker. She enjoyed going to the casino. She had a heart of gold and loved laughing but most of all she loved her family. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Butler Haynes Park in Mapleton. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co.
