Obituary for Maxine Oathout
Maxine Elaine Oathout 82, of West Peoria passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2011 at OSF St. Clare Home in Peoria Heights. She was born February 19, 1929 in Kewanee, IL to Lloyd Frank and Mabel May Resseguie Taylor. She married Arthur Oathout on December 27, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, CA. He preceded her in death June 16, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and 1 niece. She is survived by her son; Robert (Teri) Updike Jr. of East Peoria, daughter; Christine Updike of West Peoria, sister; Amy “Bernice” (Delmar “Fuzz”) Haynes of Hot Springs Valley, AR and brother; George Connor Jr. of West Peoria. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jeremy, Sarah and her great-grandchildren; Alexandria, Aubrey, Jacob and Matthew. Maxine graduated from Manuel High School in 1947 where she was in the Glee Club. She was the Publicity Chairman and President of the Mothers Club at Golden Acres School where she taught a sewing class for a year. She was part owner of A & M Manufacturing until retiring February 1, 1994. She resided in CA for several years before returning to Peoria 12 years ago. She enjoyed being with family and friends, golfing, and bowling. She made many crafts and she was a hard worker. Maxine was of the Nazarene faith. Memorials may be made to OSF St. Clare Home Activity Fund, 5533 N. Galena Rd, Peoria Heights, IL 61616. Cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
