Obituary for Max Graham Sr.
Max Duane Graham Sr., 78, of Glasford passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Max was born to Harry C. and Dorothy Barnes Graham February 18, 1934 in Summum, IL. He married Mildred (Peg) Mitchell in Palmyra, MO October 13, 1951. Peg passed away in 2001. Their marriage produced five children: Rhonda (Doug) Nohren of Mesa, AZ; Sharon (Jim) Raderstorf of Peoria, AZ; Peggy (Tom) Custer of Bloomington, IL; Lisa (Graham) Swalve of Peoria, IL; and Max Jr. (Ginger) of Lewistown, IL. They survive with 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his wife Diane and her children; caregiver Gary Stufflebeam, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved Socky. Max was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard, Thomas, Bernard and infant Donald; sisters Dorothy Ruth Batterton, Rose Anderson, Mildred (Van Middlesworth) Spears, infant Betty; and grandson Cpl Stephen James Raderstorf. Max’s career was TP&W Railroad spanning from LaHarpe to Watseka for over 37 years. He also worked at Excel Meats in Beardstown. Max enjoyed his family, anything related to railroad, mushroom hunting, NASCAR, TV Westerns and baseball. He will be sincerely missed by his family and friends. His family wishes to thank the staff at Graham Hospital and OSF St. Francis for their compassion and care. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial service will be at a later date.
