Obituary for Mary Lou Brown
Mary Lou Brown, 83, of Eureka, IL, formerly of Chillicothe, IL passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Mary Lou was born on September 27, 1939, in Peru, IN to Robert and Olga (Saltz) Deter. She was born an American Indian of the Miami Tribe. On May 6, 1989, she was wed to Carl “Charlie” Brown in Peoria County, IL. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2018. Also, preceding Mary Lou in death were both of her parents, her sister, Betty Ann Aderholtz, and her son, Richard Welch.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Ken) Marlett and Patricia Rogers of Eureka, Dennis Welch of Bartonville and Michael (Cindi) Flanagan Jr of Washington; daughter-in-law, Paula Welch of Wells, ME; grandchildren, Clinton (Lisa) Cawley, Dustin (fiancée Julie) Cawley, Coletta (Jason) Welborn, Isaiah (Simona) Welch, Ricky Welch, Alicia (Josh) Billings, Kyle (Chelsie) Flanagan, Jacalyn (Dustin) Musick, Derek (girlfriend Linsay) Flanagan; step-grandsons, Chad Marlett and Jeffrey Bridges; 26 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou retired from Caterpillar in 1999, after 30 years of service. Mary Lou and Charlie spent many happy summers boating on the Illinois River and winters at The Raintree RV Resort in North Fort Myers, FL.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held at a later date, at the Olio Cemetery.
