Obituary for Mary Jo Marter
Mary Jo Marter 73, of Peoria passed away on Monday March 24, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born in Hammond, IN on July 25, 1934 to Joseph and Josephine Raduski Kay Jr. She married John D. Marter Sr. on Sept 5, 1959 in Hammond, IN, he survives along with her sons; John (Marcy) Marter Jr. of Peoria, Joseph (Hannah) Marter of Clifton, VA, James (Jill) Marter of Oswego, IL, Jerome (Jeanette) Marter of Lake Village, IN, sisters; Eleanor (Dr. Ernest) Mirich of Crown Point, IN, Dorothy (Ron) Kingen of Racine, WI, Veronica (James) Morse of Dove, NH and her 15 grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death. Mary attended the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, IN and worked as a Medical Technologist for the VA Outpatient Clinic, retiring in 1999. She was a beautiful girl, loving wife, mother and grandmother and John’s best friend and will be missed by all who know her. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, the Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Women League of Peoria and received a Certificate from the St. Joseph Mission Society. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Pekin. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary in Pekin on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 and additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
