Obituary for Mary Giffhorn
Mary Cathern Giffhorn, 64, of Creve Coeur passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her residence. She was born June 2, 1953 in Peoria to Otto and Cathern Tandy Maltby. She married George C. Giffhorn; he preceded her in death in 2008. Her parents; infant daughter, Emma and great-granddaughter, Evie Henderson preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Eugene) Heger, Tina Cathcart, Diane (Jon) Hause; grandchildren, Natalie, Elizabeth, Brendon, Brice, Brooklyn; siblings, Tom (Becky) Maltby, Tim (Carolyn) Maltby, Willa Hundley, Patty (Larry) Waldron; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Precious. She loved cooking and her family but most of all she loved and adored the children in her life especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a generous and caring soul and will be greatly missed. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the VFW in Creve Coeur. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois in her name.
