Mary E. Zentgraf, 96, of Peoria, IL passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria where she resided for over 20 years. Loving Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grand and Great Grandmother. Truly A Life Well Lived.
She was born on March 7, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Walter and Mae Archea. She married Ernst P. Zentgraf on June 24, 1950, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2008.
Surviving are her two sons, David (Carol) Zentgraf of Peoria, IL, and Daniel (Caren) Zentgraf of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Daniel (Kate) Zentgraf, Carolyn (Alec) Head, Derek (Angie) Zentgraf, Amy Zentgraf and Dane Zentgraf; great-grandchildren, Betsy and Zach Zentgraf, McKenzie and Dylan Zentgraf and Theodora Head.
Mary attended Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati where she received a BSA in Applied Arts and a BS in Education. She was employed by Rollmans Department Store in Cincinnati and Weight Watchers in Peoria.
Mary was an active member of United (formerly First) Presbyterian Church of Peoria where she was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Women’s Association member. At Sipp School, she was a Room Mother and Cub Scout Leader. She was active in Chapter BQ of PEO, Alpha Chi Omega, and Pan Hellenic. And above all, she was a great friend and a powerful force to everyone she met.
The family would like to thank Lutheran Hillside Village and their staff for their loving care and compassion shown to Mary while residing there. We will be forever grateful to each and every one of you, too numerous to name.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Hillside Village Living Water Chapel followed by a brief visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
