Obituary for Mary E. Cupi
Mary Elizabeth Cupi 87, of Pekin passed away on Sunday August 31, 2008 at Hallmark House in Pekin. Born in Pekin on February 25, 1921, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Poropat Puhal. She married Medell Cupi in Pekin on June 10, 1939, he preceded her in death on October 4, 1988. Also proceeding where her brother Jacob Puhal, sister Ann Berardi, step-brother Jack Gerbac and step-sister Kathryn Turk. Mary is survived by her son Robert (Pauline) Cupi of Green Valley, daughters: Lydia (Patrick) Ierulli Crilly of Peoria, Theresa (Roy) Culp of Pekin, grandchildren; Robin (Christine) Cupi, Shawn (Rebecca) Cupi, Christopher Cupi, Michael (Cathy) Ierulli, Theresa (Doug) Ierulli Heath, Linda (Eric) Ierulli Ross, Victor Ierulli, Robert (Sue) Culp, Carrie (Rick) Dynis and her 16 great grandchildren. Mary was a homemaker and also worked with her husband and son for 30 plus years at South Pekin Coal and Fertilizer Co. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and its Council of Catholic Women, formally the Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies of the Moose, Ladies of Knights of Columbus and the Secular Franciscans Order and St. Joseph Mission Society. A funeral mass will be held on Friday September 5, at 10:30 a.m. at her church, Father Pat Fixsen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph School or St. Vincent DePaul food Pantry. Abts Mortuary has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
