Mark “Smitty” Elbert Smithee, 62, of Minier passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his residence.
He was born December 20, 1959, in Peoria to Eunis E. and Doris Walters Smithee. His father; maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother; his children, Rachel Huskins, McKenzee Marie (Mateo) Smithee-Nunez, Nic Smithee; grandchildren, Jace and Brie; siblings, Theresa (Jerry) Horn, David Smithee, Becky Delaney, Chris (Angela) Smithee and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mark attended Dee-Mack High School and worked as a machinist for Marion Tool & Die, Inc., retiring in August 2021.
He was a wonderful son, father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was a very generous person who would give you the shirt off his back. Mark would stock up on things that were a “bargain” just so he could give them away. He loved kids and they loved him back. He loved old cars, especially 1968 Chevelles. He loved going to Woodward with his brother-in-law to see the thousands of cars. He will be sorely missed by his family and many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
