Obituary for Mark Patrick Campbell
Mark Patrick Campbell was born on October 6, 1959 in Pekin Illinois and passed from this life on May 4, 2016 in Montrose Colorado. Mark began his career in cable television climbing poles and ended his career managing cable field operations in Colorado, Kentucky, New Hampshire and Idaho. He acquired numerous technical and business certifications following his graduation from Pekin High School in 1977. He was named most valuable player in the adult softball leagues in two states. He never lost a football game playing barefooted in the scrimmages against the north side players after high school. Mark had a standing vertical leap of 46 inches in addition to being fast and aggressive on the basketball court. When asked what he would like to be, he was quick to answer, “five foot eight”. Mark’s love of the music of his generation was well known because he would sing parts of lyrics when driving or working, or one could hear the CD’s keeping the beat during his workouts. Many still have some of his woodworking creations; he was a good craftsman in spite of having “paws” for hands.
While Mark was well known by his friends for all these things, he was known best for his passion in all he did and especially for his love of playing sports, lake and ocean fishing, boating, music, furniture building, home remodeling, body building and for the successes of his children.
Mark is the ninth child of Clement and Ruth Campbell. Mark is missed by his daughter, Brandi, her husband Brian and her children Stacee, Cameron, Emily and Logan of Rifle Colorado; by his son Nathan and Nathan’s daughters Aaliyah and Jasmine, and by Mark’s younger daughter, Tori, of Meridian Idaho. Also experiencing sorrow for his passing are his mother, Ruth Campbell, his sisters Mary Steele, Rita Sierra and Therese Powers; and his brothers Richard, Stephen, Kevin, Christopher, Michael, Daniel, Laurence and John Campbell. Mark has family too numerous to list that mourn his passing.
The family will be present to receive friends on May 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Abts Mortuary,
in Pekin Illinois.
