Obituary for Mardell Lahne
Mardell Joye Lahne, 75, died of natural cause in Proctor Hospital on Monday, February 27, 2012. Mardell was the resident of Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton, IL. Mardell was born July 29, 1936 in Peoria, IL to Emil and Emma Stegmaier. Her parents preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Kristina Jones of East Peoria, IL and Kelly Goodhue of Annapolis, MD, two grandsons Kramer Hedges of Norfolk, VA and Ian Hedges of Albuquerque, NM and one sister Pamela Stegmaier of Morton, IL. Mardell graduated from Illinois State University and taught at Washington High School and East Peoria High School. She dedicated her talent to mentoring other people in what she knew. She owned several businesses over the years including a gift shop in the Cloverdale Nursery Garden Shop, The Gift Shop with Joye, The Corner Store, The Serendipity Shop, and Handy Helpers, Inc. In addition to owning and operating several businesses, she loved to share what she could with other people. A celebration of her life (visitation) will be held between 2:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. on March 3, 2012 at the Luthy Botanical Garden 2520 N. Prospect, Peoria, IL 61603. Memorial donations may be made to Luthy Botanical Garden located at 2520 N. Prospect, Peoria, IL 61603 or Morton Terrace Care Center located at 191 E. Queenwood Road, Morton, IL 61550. Her ashes will be scattered in beautiful places, per her wishes. A flowering tree will be planted in her honor at the Luthy Botanical Garden. Mardell was loving, creative, talented, and intelligent; she will be greatly missed.
