Obituary for Marcus Everett
Dr. Marcus James Everett 89, of Peoria passed away Thursday February 24, 2011 at the JC Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria. He was born May 19, 1921 in Fort Wayne, IN to Harvey A. and Frances K. Dauer Everett. He married Mary V. Harrell December 23, 1944 in Grosse Pointe, MI. She survives along with their children; Mark D. Everett of Wichita, KS, James F. (Christine) Everett of Peoria, Jeffrey W. (Jane) Everett of Mt. Prospect and Paul M. (Theresa) Everett of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a brother; Dr Robert C. (Myrtle) Everett of St. Clair Shores, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and son; John Harvey Everett. Marcus graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in September 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in MASH Unit 8209 from 1951 to 1952 and moved to Peoria in 1953, working in private practice until retirement in 1986. He was a volunteer Doctor for the Shriners Clinic in Peoria, and a past President of Proctor Hospital Medical Staff. He was a 50+ year member of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria where he was an Elder and taught Sunday School. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Temple 46. Cremation has been accorded and services will be held Sunday March 6, 2011 at 2 pm at the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria with burial of cremains in the Memorial Garden located at the church. Rev. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the JC Proctor Endowment Home or to his church.
