Obituary for Mabel Karch
Mabel Virginia Karch, of Pekin, passed away on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 at 2:30 pm, at home surrounded by her son (Jeff) her daughter (Judy) and her son-in-law, Darrell Becker. Born March 14th, 1917 in Lincoln, to George F. and Emma F. (Littreal) Rotenberry, she married Charles Preston Karch on November 19th, 1938 in Decatur. Charles passed away on February 19th, 1993. Surviving are three sons, Stephen (Gloria) Karch of Colorado Springs, Co., Terry (Holly) Karch of Fresno, CA., Jeff A. Karch of Pekin and one daughter Judy (Darrell) Becker also from Pekin. Four grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Karch of Highlands Ranch, CO., Nicole (Rob) Beaman, of Johnston, Iowa, Eric Karch of Fresno, CA., John Karch also from Fresno, CA., Three great-grandchildren, Alex Karch of Highlands Ranch, CO., Steve Beaman and Rob Beaman of Johnston, Iowa. Also surviving is one sister Beulah Mae Mckinney of Sun City, AZ. She was preceded in death by two children (Larry Karch) and (Sharon Karch), one brother (Hermann) and three sisters (Marie Covey), (Ruth Bass) and (Shirley Taylor). She was a homemaker. She was a 62 year member of Grace United Methodist Church, Sunset Hills Country Club, the Pekin Country Club, Women’s Club, PTA at Edison School and the Sunset Bowling League. In addition, she was a 25 year volunteer at the Pekin Hospital as a member of the Hospital League. Mabel enjoyed golfing, bridge, gardening, homemaking and volunteering. Charles and Mabel enjoyed their winters in AZ. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mabel was loved and will be missed by those who knew her. Private graveside services will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
