Obituary for Louis "Bob" Kells
Louis Robert (Bob) Kells, 85, beloved husband of Phyllis Elaine Kells (nee Stern), of
Washington, Illinois died at 4:30 pm Saturday, March 03, 2018 at Proctor
Hospital. Born November 12, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Robert Louis Kells of
Marion, Indiana and, Frances Edna Webster of York, England. He married Phyllis
Stern on August 23, 1958 in Peoria, Illinois.

Surviving are two sons Robert Phillip Kells (Heather Winkelhake) of Peoria, Illinois
and Eric Louis Kells (Marnie Lambert) of East Peoria, Illinois and grandson Ean
Robert Kells.

Mr. Kells served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957, spending three
years in the United Kingdom. Graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor's
degree in 1959. Employed by Peoria Journal-Star, Replacement Lens Corporation
(RU), Multi-Ad Services, and Dynamic Graphics, Inc., retiring in 1998. Was a
member of the American Management Association, Illinois Central College
Graphic Arts Advisory Council, and the United States Air Force Association. He
was 1947 marble champ at Franklin Grade School and played in the Peoria city
championship. In 1948 he played in the Peoria City Junior Golf Tournament. As
Bob would say, "The guy that beat me went on to win the tournament."

Later in life, after his wife passed away From Alzheimer'S in 2012, he spent much
of his time traveling extensively in the United States with his live in caregiver and
eldest son Robert reconnecting with old friends and family. He reacquainted
himself with the Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria and its members, which
both he and his late wife dearly loved. He spent these last few years enjoying
Facebook, which made connections with old friends possible, and became a fan
of the Universal Studios "Minions", as well as a devoted fan of "The Walking
Dead" to great surprise and joy of his family. He acquired a penchant for flashy
suspenders and marijuana socks. He loved to see the reactions as he, an 80
some-year-old man, would walk up sporting such trendy apparel. It put smiles on
almost everyone's faces that he met, young and old alike. Especially the nurses at
the Illinois CancerCare, members and staff of the RiverPlex, staff and veterans he
met at the Bob Michel VA Outpatient Clinic, and friends and staff he met on his
afternoon walks at Northwoods Mall who were greatly responsible for his excellent
quality of life and health in his last remaining years.

Cremation was accorded. There was no visitation. Services were private at the
convenience of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bradley University.

PS: Had two slingshots and a BB gun.
