Lisa Sue Scheerer, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in Peoria, IL at 8:37AM at the age of 60. A resident of Morton, Illinois, Lisa’s life was one marked by love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
Born on April 9, 1965, in Peoria, Lisa was a devoted mother to her sons, Zachary (Sarah) — and Aaron (Monica). She found immense joy in her grandchildren, Gavin and Lane. And enjoyed spending time with them and watching them play the sports they love.
She was the cherished daughter of Gloria Benedict and the late Harold Benedict. Lisa is also survived by her close-knit siblings — Karen Blum, Angie Schwader (Steve), and Terry Benedict (Kathleen)— and by her former husband and lifelong friend, Bret Scheerer. As well as many nieces and nephews. Her warmth and kindness also touched the lives of countless friends who will forever hold her memory dear.
Lisa’s spirit was infectious — she had a natural gift for making every room brighter. Known for her generous heart, her sense of humor, and her love of laughter, she was a friend and confidante to many.
An avid game lover, Lisa embraced everything from video games and card games to Bunko, to watching Wheel of Fortune with Donna Scheerer aka Nana. Lisa would always bring enthusiasm and friendly competition. A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, she cherished watching games with her sons, and passionately cheering on her team. She also found peace in the simple beauty of birdwatching, especially the cardinals that visited her outdoor feeder.
One of her treasured daily pleasures was her digital picture frame, filled with photos of her growing family. She savored each moment on display, a reminder of the love and life she built.
Lisa will be remembered through the joy she shared, the kindness she offered, and the deep love that defined her life. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL on Monday, June 23rd, 2025, at 10:30-11:30am. A church service will follow.
