Lisa M. Heilman, 59, of Forest City, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Born February 19, 1963, to Jim and Marjorie (Mitchell) Heltzel in Peoria. She married Jeff Heilman on April 19, 2002. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and stepfather, John Ball.
She is survived by her daughter, Opal (Brad) Kuban of Hopedale; granddaughter, Maeleigh Kuban of Hopedale; sister, Joni (Dave) Sefton of Brownstown; brother, Carl Heltzel of Green Valley; Aunt, Marilyn (Eric) Hinderliter of Canton; several cousins, and her loving canines, Bentley and Nakita.
Lisa was a graduate of Pekin Community High School, class of 1981, and later graduated from Illinois Central College. She did clerical work for many years before becoming a stay-at-home wife. She was presently employed at The Lodge at Manito, last working Oct 15th, where she loved all the residents. She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church Sand Prairie in Green Valley.
Skilled at crocheting, a craft she learned from her mother; she created many keepsakes for family and friends. Often, she could be found reading books, cooking, baking, gardening, or working puzzles much like both of her grandmothers as well as her mother. She enjoyed being outdoors. You could always find her working on a project in her yard. She loved her family and friends, but mostly her granddaughter “Whoovie”. She always found kind things to do and could put a smile on your face with her banter and silly antics; all of which will be deeply missed.
Cremation has been accorded. Service will be held at a later date. Memorials in Lisa’s honor may be made to Mason County Pets Without Parents.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
