Linda Marie Reeves, 66 of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at her home while sleeping peacefully.
Linda was born on August 4, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska to Otis Reeves and Galelia (Ross) Reeves. Later she transitioned into the Home of Wil and Lois Hunt in 1969 at the age of 11. There she was raised as one of their own. She is survived by her three foster siblings: Linda Glover (Des Moines, IA), Pam Hunt (Des Moines, IA) and Edward Hunt (Des Moines, IA); fourteen nieces and nephews whom she considered herself as helping raised. Along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by both sets of her parents, Otis and Galelia Reeves and Wil and Lois Hunt. Along with her foster siblings: Diane Hunt-Onuigbo, Todd Hunt and Craig ‘Rocky’ Hunt. We do want to mention that Linda had one biological sibling, a sister named Geneva Reeves, but her status as surviving cannot be confirmed at this time.
Linda was affectionately known as ‘Reasby’. She received her special education at Ruby Van Meter and graduated in 1979. Linda has worked through special programs provided by Easter Seales, EPIC and CWTC. Reasby was a social butterfly; you could always find her in a conversation with someone. She is known for her phrases ‘we’re gonna talk about that’ or ‘we’re gonna get into that’ and the famous ‘talk smack’. She had an infectious smile and desire to live her life to the fullest.
Linda loved the Lord, listening to music, going swimming, bowling, dancing, food and especially some fried chicken. Throughout her life you would definitely find her serving in the house of the Lord. She began at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized, serving as an usher. She then served faithfully at Faith Missionary Baptist Church until she moved to Peoria, Illinois where she resided with her nephew and family Benjamin (Sparkle) Nicks Jr. Upon her arrival in Peoria, she served at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church until the pancreatic cancer kept her away from her post. Her favorite passage of scripture was Psalm 150. She loved the Lord and took part in worship services. She will always be remembered for her love, kindness, generosity and ability to make you smile and laugh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 410 S. Olive St. Peoria, IL 61605.
