Obituary for Leslie Joyce Hacker
Leslie Joyce Hacker, born December 31, 1951, passed away May 7, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Leslie Claire Curtiss and Verda (Wooldridge) Curtiss and had 3 doting brothers. She married the love of her life, Dustin, on April 25, 1981.
Leslie retired from Erie Insurance Illinois Branch in 2017 where she was a Senior Subrogation Specialist. As many have said, Leslie had a wonderful intellect, sense of humor, curiosity and grace. She was an amazing artist, most recently trying her hand at watercolors and has left the family with many of her beautiful artwork. She had an eye for detail and amazed us all with her sewing talents. She loved to make quilts for new babies, garden, journal, and spend time with loved ones. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Bible Church for over 35 years and cherished her time spent studying and learning about God. She was a living example of God’s unconditional love and service to her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Josephus E. Seybold; 2 daughters, Liberty (Travis) Binegar, and Angela (Jeremiah) Noel; and two adopted grandsons, Ethan and Carter Hacker. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. All of whom she was very close. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard (Marie) Curtiss; her daughter, Sarah R.A. Seybold; and her soulmate and husband, Dustin Hacker.
Cremation has been accorded and services will be held on Sunday June 6, at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Bible Church, 2200 W. Nebraska Ave., Peoria, IL. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to ¬the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Leslie’s decades-long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.
