On Friday, January 29, 2021, Leon Stevenson, 80, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed into the presence of the Lord. He leaves his wife, Lou Wanda; daughters, Maralee (Rich) Malingowski and Teresa (Troy) Cottrell; sons, Donnie Stevenson, Ryan (Mike) Murphy and Tony (Michelle) Parsons and grandchildren, Jenna, Aaron, and Nathan Malingowski, Benjamin and Abigail Cottrell, Aiden, Trudy, Brooklyn, and Kayden Murphy, and Kylie, Macie, and Charlie Parsons; sisters, Lavon (Lee) Amsler, Launa (J. Dean) Pierce, Alta Gering, Marjorie (Brant) Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are parents, Clyde and Velma Stevenson; brother, Clyde Linn Stevenson and granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth Malingowski.

Leon was born in Cuba, Illinois on March 18, 1940 to Clyde and Velma Stevenson. After attending college, Leon proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service, he completed his degree and worked in the floor covering industry for many years. He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed restoring furniture, woodworking, and home improvement projects. Leon had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a genuine interest in people. He never knew a stranger and could light up a room with his laugh and smile. Leon spent his life showing Jesus' love through kindness and humble acts of service. He cherished time with his loved ones, especially his kids and grandkids.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11am on February 9, 2021 at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Eureka, Illinois followed by military honors and internment at Ohio Cemetery in Eureka. Visitation will be held on February 8 from 6-8pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Adherent to Covid protocols (mask and social distancing) is requested.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS) or Grace Church of the Nazarene in Eureka.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
