Obituary for Kerith Meuth
Kerith Isobel “Kay” Meuth 83, of Canton passed away Wednesday November 11, 2009 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born October 4, 1926 in Harvey, IL to Wesley and Mildred Stoliker Int-Hout. She grew up in West Chicago. She was formerly married to George Meuth on August 7, 1948 in a garden wedding. Surviving are her three sons, Weston (Kathleen) Meuth of Canton, Patterson (Joyce) Meuth of Waukegan and Todd Meuth of Canton. Kay was blessed with five grandchildren: Jeremy (Alison) Meuth and Jennifer (Jim) Flaig of Peoria, Anthony (Amanda) Meuth of Jasper, AL and twins Heidi and Carlo Meuth of Waukegan. Some of her biggest joys were her five great grandchildren: Sydney, Sophie and Jack Meuth and Wendell and Trevor Flaig. To all of them, she was lovingly known as “Granny Kay”. She adored her furry canine friend, Earl and her adopted Orca Whale, Granny. Also surviving are her twin sister, Lanore (George) Fessler of Colts Neck, NJ and older brother Patterson Int-Hout of Wenatchee, WA. She had several beloved nieces and nephews. She was also a adopted member of Darrell Lillie family of Cuba. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kay worked in a variety of jobs, ranging from pickle factory to writing for the Palm Springs, CA paper and the Cuba Journal. She had a fantastic sense of humor and played a mean game of cards. Kay enjoyed observing birds at her feeders, watching golf tournaments (especially at La Quinta), and anything with Josh Grobin or Gary Sinise (“those eyes!”). She loved to spend time with her family. Kay had a great love of nature, reading (newspapers and mysteries), crossword puzzles, coffee, French Silk ice cream, birds and buckeyes. Kay was cremated and requested no formal funeral. A celebration of her life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sat November 14, 2009 in the office building of the Village Square Apartments at 1626 E. Myrtle in Canton. Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Wildlife Prairie Park. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
