Obituary for Kathryn Hopkins
Kathryn Ann Hopkins 67, of Dunlap passed away Thursday January 6, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born January 9, 1943 to James Edward and Margaret Elizabeth Moore Brennan in Spring Valley, IL. She married James Hopkins December 29, 1962 in Henry, IL. He survives along with her daughter; Ann (Rodney) Wilson of Peoria Heights, sons; Michael (Beth) Hopkins of Auburn, Ed (Becky) Hopkins of Edwards, grandchildren; Benjamin and Megan Wilson, Zachary and Cody Hopkins, Nicholas and Payton Hopkins, step-grandchildren; Ryan, Sean and Megan Crissey. She is also survived by her sister; Patricia Gruber of Dayton, OH, brother; William (Brenda) Brennan of Rome, IL, brother-in-law; David Hopkins of Springfield, MO and one niece and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 infant sons; James Jesse and Aaron Patrick Hopkins. Katie was a graduate of the ICC Nursing Program and she received her BSN in Nursing at Sangamon State University. She was a Certified Registered Rehabilitation Nurse. She retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as their Rehab Nurse case manager in 1998. She was a member and past Dean of the American Guild of Organists, 1

VP of Peoria City Home Extension, Chapter Secretary of Holiday Rambler Club #119, and a member of St. Pat Society and Friends of Clonmel. She was part of the Faith, Hope and Love Prison Ministry, Cursillo, Sounds of Joy singing group, and one of the founding members of the St. Martin Chamber Players. She was a talented organist and pianist. She played for numerous churches and was a substitute church organist. She played numerous weddings, funerals and special masses. She began playing church services around the age of 12. She was very proud of her Irish Heritage. Katie was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Dunlap where a Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday January 11, 2011 at 10 am. Fr. Patrick Henehan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Henry. Fr. Thomas Mizeur will officiate. A visitation will be held Monday January 10, 2011 at the church from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Catholic School.
