Obituary for Katherine Berry
Katherine A. Berry, 78, of Peoria passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at her residence. She was born October 18, 1940 in Champaign to Everett and Lois Shanks Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gerald Berry, William Wood Jr.; three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her children, Steven L. Brown, Lori (Mark) Bitner, Lois (Tom) Whitby, Mary (Tim) Durdel all of Peoria, IL, Mark (Kim) Wood of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Molly and Megan Bitner, Tiffany and Bethany Whitby, Alex and Morgan Barden, Jordan and Melissa Wood; five great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Pippa. Katherine worked as a waitress at Jumer’s in Peoria for 25 years; retiring in 1992. She loved her family and grandchildren very much. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Fighting Illini Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a dear friend to many and a huge supporter of the Democratic Party. Katherine was a member of the Creve Coeur Christian Church where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to PAWS in her name.
